I'm back from Saipan. My stay was... educational. I'll say that much. If you want details, and you have the clearance, you know where to find me.

It hit me today though. I've been here for six months now. I'm 25% done with my tour on the Gary. When you've done an active duty enlistment in the Navy, you learn the value of six months. The value of my last six months was apparently up for debate on the trip down to the Marianas. I haven't really spoken about it much, but this guy I work with, who I'll refer to as Black Rob, has been nothing short of an ass to me since I got to the command. To be fair, he's not a bad guy, we just have seriously conflicting personalities. It could have something to do with me coming from a carrier and him coming from somewhere a lot less demanding... from an IT standpoint anyhow.

The problem is, he thinks his shit doesn't stink (a common IT trait that I happen to loathe). My chief happens to agree, and considering how far up Rob's ass he is I'd almost be inclined to agree. Truth is though, chief created a monster. Rob doesn't have a fraction of the sea-time I have. When he got to Gary he got schooled up the ass and has every NEC known to man. Not to sound pompous, but the network I ran for 3 years with Mo on ChuckV had roughly 4 times the clientele of the entire crew on Gary. I'm a 4 year 2nd class with damn near 4 years of sea-time and qualified in two Warfare Specialist fields. I'm overqualified for the job I do now.

I told Ski' the night before getting underway, completely under the influence that Black Rob and I were gonna have words. I'm not an... argumenative person. I have a very long wick and I tend to let people who want to act ignorant stay that way, but as Mo can atest, I have buttons that when pushed can bring out the Hyde in me.

So yeah. Black Rob found that out. And it's safe to say the value of my last six months is no longer an issue.
