I turned 21 today... or yesterday... Depnding on what side of the international dateline you're on... Anyway, the 15th of August is my birthday... It marked the second time I've spent one underway... No man should ever, under any circumstances, spend his 21st underway on a Naval vessel in a Naval uniform... It's just wrong... Regardless... It all started out pretty shitty... "J" wasn't even talkin' to me, still mad over something so trivial it's not worth posting. There has to be a written rule somewhere prohibiting the use of the silent treatment on someone on their birthday, but apparently "J" never read it... She kept it up well into the day in question, 'til nearly the eleventh hour and I was getting pissed at how borderline inhumane she was being... and then I went to my rack... She left me a card... it made me feel like an asshole for being mad at her... she's good at that... Later on Anti-Joy showed up after her shift at our shop... She sang the most excruciating verse of "Happy Birthday" ever and then bestowed me with a cake that'd been disfigured beyond description... But it was really thoughtful of her and I must admit to being slightly moved by it...
The Cubs are leading the central division now... Nothing else matters...

Hong Kong was good to me... Could've been even better if I wasn't such a punk... I hardly consumed any alcohol... Maybe it was residual remorse for Japan... which is really retarded considering I didn't do anything... criminal... But, whatever it was, I wasn't in the drinking mood the whole time... And what I did drink didn't really do it for me...I really made out there... It was good timing... Crystal Chronicles had come out on the 8th and the good ol' Vinson pulls in, so you know where my priorities were... Mo, Nick, & I went out to Sham Shui Po, likely the pirated, bootleg software capital of the world. There I picked up CC and the ever so coveted Boktai bundle... We took a trip too Lantau Island and saw the Buddha at Po Lin Monastery also... Something I'll never forget... All in all, Hong Kong is now one of my favorite ports, up there with Singapore. Can't wait to go back...
As usual, Gibby was a source of some priceless comic relief... He came back to the ship the day b'fore duty proclaiming he'd found an English copy of Boktai for $15 USD... He found one all right... One completely void of a sunlight sensor rendering his copy unplayable... What a tool...
